Help STOP Europe’s largest Mega Prisons & a large Asylum Centre in rural north Essex
In September 2021, the Ministry of Justice announced plans to build two Mega Prisons, the size of a town in rural countryside.
On the 7th of March 2023 the Home Office announced the potential role of Wethersfield airfield as a site to house asylum seekers.
There is no suitable infrastructure to support such developments in this remote, rural location.
We aim to protect this area from inappropriate development and swap it for something that is feasible, sustainable and community led. We cannot achieve our goals alone. Find out how you can help.
